![]() 1976 was a year of good byes for Cadillac. The Calais name, the Fleetwood Eldorado Convertible, the 500 cubic inch engine, and the final traditional-sized Cadillac deVilles and Fleetwoods would roll off the line and disappear, some of them forever. The world had changed, as had the tastes of luxury car buyers, and Cadillac had to change as well to meet the new demands. The Cadillacs that followed would still be elegant, luxurious, and distinctive, but they would not be of the same exterior proportions as the models preceding them.
